Lines and Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles form anywhere on our bodies from repetitive movements, or age and gravity. Patients are typically concerned with treating the forehead, lip, eye and jowl lines.

What is it?

A mix of factors can lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. The most common include:

  1. Aging and Gravity: As skin matures, it naturally loses its stores of collagen and elastin, resulting in diminished skin suppleness and the appearance of wrinkles and lines.
  2. Facial Movements: Consistent facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, and squinting can lead to the creation of wrinkles.
  3. Sun Damage: Continuous exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can hasten the skin's aging process, leading to premature development of wrinkles and fine lines. Buckeye Dermatology can't emphasize enough the importance of integrating sunscreen into your daily skincare routine!
  4. Decrease in Fat: With aging comes a natural decline in facial volume that can cause skin sagging and wrinkle formation. Weight loss can also be a contributing factor since the skin may not retract as quickly as the fat diminishes.

Wrinkles and lines can appear anywhere on the body, but most commonly, our patients are interested in treating the forehead, crow's feet, worry lines, laugh lines, lip lines, and jowl lines. Buckeye Dermatology also offers treatment for wrinkles and lines on the neck and décolletage.

How is it treated?

Wrinkles are a normal aspect of the aging process, but if they're causing you concern, our team of board-certified practitioners located in Springfield, Grove City and Dublin, Ohio provide a wide range of treatments to effectively reduce wrinkles and lessen their appearance. Treatment options are personalized to each patient but might include Botox, fillers, microneedling and chemical peels.
